Breaks my heart every time to know what your mother had to go thru & your story. Thanks for having the courage to share it. I can't imagine what I would be like if my son's father decided to take my son for this cult. I look forward to your book

i am new to this board.
i am not sure where to post this, so i'll give this place a try.
don't ask how i stumbled across this board.
with a JW until a child arrived and then 5 yrs of hell and probably many more years of heartache as the little guy is involved. I wouldn't do it again even though a beautiful; child resulted.
Amen on that. I'm going thru the same thing. It's not worth it, the pressure on them ultimately becomes your grief.

so- here's some good news, and some bad news.. bad news first.. my alternator is dead.. good news.. no service for at least a week.
bad news.. had "dates and such" i had to cancel.
good news.
I just put $900 into my truck putting him back in top shape...including a new alternator...I love my truck....and I'm glad I drive it over here, cuz I can barely afford gas at $2.07 for it, let alone $5.60...yikes!!

what do ya'all think about this...'somewherelse' inquired as to whether my froggy avitar was in fact a tattoo that i'd had done, and it's got me thinking about it!
i'm normally fairly opposed to body art, well for myself anyway.
if you are going to get a tatt, i believe it should be something very personal, and very well thought out over a long period of time.
I say go for it...my ex told me that was the first thing that attracted me to him was my tattoo around my ankle...wonder how he feels about it now?? I'm looking into another one, once I figure out what & where I'm doing it!
As far as being 80 years old & wrinklie...I figure it'll either be around my neck or on the bottom of my foot by then...time will tell!!

hey,.
my partner in life (26yrs) has been converted to jw by his mother.. i am not one to whine -as very aware many have more troubles in their life.. i suppose one of my fears has been this exactly- as i know he was raised jw and should have saw the "signs.
" he always regularly visited with his mom, which i respected as felt a good sign he had a mother/son relationship.
Been thereDone that
Bought the t-shirt &
Sold the movie rights....
My thoughts exactly. Mine did the same thing, all behind my back until it was too late. It's not easy, I never stood a chance, also behind my back was a new JW girl that he married. If he's determined to get back with them, you will have a hard time convincing him otherwise, but you do sound like you have your head on straight. How old are your kids?? Old enuff to make up their own minds?? I wish you the best of luck. It sucks to lose something to this organization, and to be treated like a pariah for not believing along with them.
I totally empathize with you!!

how do you feel about it when a formally together couple split up and one of them talks really bad about the other to the children just to get the kids on thier side and to turn them against the other in revenge to sooth hurt feeling?
That's the trouble I'm having with my ex....only it's his wife that is doing most of the bad talking, including encouraging my son to call her Mom...pisses me off. I try really really hard to explain to the 4 year old that she's not his mommy and not to call her that, but he doesn't really get it. I know my ex is in there too, and for what?? All I can do is ensure my son that his parents love him (even if they don't get along). Maybe one day, when she's going thru the same thing THEN she'll understand...and maybe one day my ex will find his balls & put a stop to it as he should.
It is pretty sad, we had a relationship that produced a child and are reduced to this...

ok so some of you may know that i just divorced a man who has been a deadbeat dad to our son from the very start.
i left him shortly after we found out i was prego for several reasons including his not desiring to be there for me as i was scared and newly pregnant, he would rather continue to be an alchoholic loser, out all the time to the bars or in some chics bed or whatever.
so he has not paid any of the ordered child support (my son is almost a year old) he never showed up to any of our divorce hearings.
Hang in there, my ex pulled the same crap, but in my state they did an "account" sweep & now have his child support amount coming right out of his check before he even sees it. He blames me for his troubles and blames me cuz I'm "taking his money" and he's having to "pay me" I remind him that he's got a son, but he & the new wife don't see things that way. It's easier to blame/hate me than face the reality of just how miserable they both are. He was quite happy with me paying everything & making sure our son was cared for so long as he didn't have to part with any money.
Keep on them, about things, if you know where he is, let them know, if you know he's getting paid under the table, let them know & then let them know who's doing the paying. Eventually this will catch up with him...
Being a single mom isn't easy, but Devin will see how hard you've worked & will work for him and he will love you all the more for it.
Take care!

i stumbled upon this site while looking for help.
my prob is there's this girl i really really like alot.
she's beautiful, smart, has a great personality and i love being around her.
Hi Clay:
Let me ask you a question...if this girl was interested in you, your mom liked her and everyone was happy & joyful, but the only thing she was interested in doing with you was discussing your religion and how wrong it was to her and why you should leave it, would you still be interested??
We all want what we cannot have, and it seems to me you have an interest in her and there is a challenge before you that you feel the need to try. I can attest that having a relationship with someone in the JW's is not an easy task. I can take it a step further & say that even if you get over the hump, you fall in love and get married, you have children. Prepare for the battle to really begin there.
I think you should take things slow, don't try to change her mind on what she knows, but show her other things in life. Show her that you are her friend first, not someone who is trying to take away her religion. She will resist that more than anything, and they are prepared for that as well. If she's saying that you can't go any further, then you have to accept that. You can still show interest, just make sure you get out there & date other people, you are young.
Sometimes the catch isn't worth the chase. Good Luck

i have lived in mexico for almost two years.
i have always been fascinated by languages so when i retired from the state of washington at age 50 and had the opportunity so go to college i majored in spanish.
i didn't go to college when i was young for the usual dub reason.
My ex was going to teach my daughter how to speak Spanish, and she is currently taking it in high school. He told her that books & school would never teach her "real" spanish & "really" how to speak it, that there were so many different ways to speak the language. I don't know if he was trying to disuade her after she went around him to learn it or if it's because of what you stated above. Knowing my ex the way I do, he probably felt that since she wasn't spanish she wouldn't be able to speak it correctly.
Also, my mother still bristles at anyone who tries to speak Scottish that isn't Scottish, and mis pronounces "Edin-berg" instead of "Edinbur-ah" drives her mad! People seem to be very protective of their native language!
